Ok, same post as before with updates...

I need help!!
Last night, for some reason I have yet to figure, anytime I open a file or program my computer acts as if I have just told it to delete.
When I tell it "cancel" it acts as if I have done nothing.
Sometimes when I right click the "close" I can get the delete inquiry to go away.
Sometimes if I right click to open or run I can get it to do so without asking me if I want to delete.
But If I click or double click it asks me to confirm deletion.

I haven't downloaded or installed anything new.
I haven't followed any odd links to websites.
I haven't changed any settings.
AVG isn't finding a virus.

I have cold booted.
I had tried a system restore.
I booted and scanned in safe mode.
Removed and cleaned the keyboard and touchpad assembly.

When I searched online all I could find was being told that is it s bad mouse. I have a touchpad on the laptop so I tried disabling it and using an external mouse and still had the same issues.

HELP!!!

Download and install (if your computer lets you) MalwareBytes. you can get it from Download.com, which is a safe site. Install it, update it, run it.

If that doesn't clear it up, go back to download.com and snag Ccleaner (not a typo). Install that, and run the registry tool. ALWAYS back up your registry when it asks you if you want to do so. Save it to C:\ - don't put it in your my documents file or anything.

If those two things don't work... i'd try a repair install of your OS. What OS are you running?

Running XP Pro. Sadly, my disc has disappeared. I still have the case with the cert # though.

Already ran ccleaner. It didn't help.
Going to get Malwarebytes now...

As someone else said, this sounds like either a stuck deleted key, or a virus.

New thought. Open the running processes window with ctrl-alt-del, and then try to reproduce the offending effect. Watch the list for anything that pops up running only when that happens.

Non-virus options: Try reinstalling drivers for the keyboard and mouse. They're usually available on the co's websites, and can go hinky without warning or provocation. Or, try a new, different keyboard and mouse. Borrow someone else's, see if it still does it. That will at least maybe help you figure out where the problem isn't.
